CUCKOO FARM EGGS was established some years ago by the previous owner who ran a poultry business on the farm supplying a big supermarket and then local businesses. It seems a few years ago the hens and houses were taken off the land with the intention of resting it and their attention then turned to building the farmhouse. The business continued with the eggs being supplied by Cindy and David Rice at Higher Tredis Farm and being graded and packed from the packing station here.
When we took over we met Cindy and David and their very happy free range hens and we have been delighted to continue with this business.
Rosie and her friend Sammy are the eggsperts! They grade the eggs on a very Wallace and Grommit like machine which we call the 'Egomatic' and pack them up daily for delivery to all our local customers. The boxes used to say 'Local Eggs for Local People' but we changed it to 'Packed with Love', because they certainly are. Everything is very small human scale and hand made, for example we print the labels and stick them on ourselves using environmentally friendly inks.
From here they go out in our little egg van 'Edgar' (sorry for the yolk. I mean joke!) with Rosie and Sammy calling daily on our rounds through Kingsbridge, Ivybridge, Totnes, Darmouth, Bigbury Burgh Island and surrounding villages. The eggs have a good reputation for freshness and quality and we are proud to serve the local community.
We are always looking to expand the round so do call us for prices and delivery days. Orders as small as one tray (30 eggs) or 2 dozen boxed can be delivered to your door, medium, large and extra large are all available.
